The amount of kayak accessories on the market today is just as large and varied as the kayakers who need them.  Since there are many different kinds of kayaking, you’re going to find many different kinds of accessories, such as vests and paddles.  But those are the ones you would expect coming into a section labeled “Kayak Accessories.”  Every store that sells kayak accessories is going to have a different selection.  Luckily, there are stores out there that can provide you with unique items.  You can get everything from seat backs, which increase your comfort and give your back something to lean against, to repair items, which consists of replacements for any item you would imagine finding on a kayak.  However, these accessories are expensive, so you have to watch to make sure you don’t spend two or three times what your kayak is worth on kayak accessories.
Spending a little bit on kayak accessories wouldn’t hurt though.  Experts say your kayak needs to be an extension of you.  It’s not an extension of you when it comes out of the factory (unless you have it custom built, of course); it’s an extension of the manufacturer that produced it.  It’s your job to buy the add-ons you need to make your kayak more like you.  Another cool accessory is a rudder kit, which enhances your ability to turn on a dime compared to how you were turning without it.  These are a few examples of the numerous awesome, unique accessories you can find when you’re looking to trick out your kayak.
