Kayak Fishing
Kayak fishing is a lot of fun because it’s just you in a single seat fishing in more places than you would be able to reach in a normal boat. Sometimes it’s difficult to get to the fish that gather under your boat. With a kayak, there’s not much to the body of your boat, which makes getting the fish that are hiding a lot easier. Fishing in a kayak doesn’t give you the luxury of being able to put your fishing pole at one end of the boat while you’re reclining at the other end. You have to hold your fishing pole at all times and be alert for any bites you might get. Putting your fishing pole down as you would in wider, longer boats is possible, but it’s going to be closer to you anyway so it defeats the purpose of trying this method at all.
You’re not going to catch more fish because you’re fishing from a kayak. However, you will have a fun experience while you’re doing it. The fish will have nowhere to hide and you will see a lot more of them than you ever did before. The main issue when you’re fishing off a kayak is being able to get the fish in the boat and how you’re going to store them for the trip home. Experienced kayakers have this down to a science. For the rest of us, it’s a practice that takes some getting used to. No worries though. In no time, you’ll be teaching others the fine art of kayak fishing. |
